Facts about children in Sierra Leone

Education: Challenges and Opportunities

  • Education is free, but not accessible to all: In 2018, the state introduced free primary and secondary education, but many children still do not attend school.

  • Low enrollment rate: About 30% of children do not complete primary school, especially in rural areas.

Health situation: Fight for survival

  • Child mortality: One in ten children dies before the age of 5, mostly from preventable diseases such as malaria, diarrhea, and pneumonia.

  • Malnutrition: About 30% of children suffer from chronic malnutrition, which stunts their physical and mental development.

Girls' difficulties:

Many girls are unable to attend school due to early marriages, lack of menstrual hygiene products, and household responsibilities.

Infrastructure problems

  • Schools often lack sufficient teachers 👩‍🏫, teaching materials or adequate buildings 🛖. Many students study in crowded classrooms, often without electricity or drinking water 💧.

  • Many rural areas lack access to hospitals or doctors, and nearly half of all births take place without skilled assistance, increasing infant mortality.

How does Primon Charity help?

  • We support education: We build schools 🏫, provide scholarships 🎓, and provide school supplies . We improve healthcare:

  • We provide families with vaccinations 💉 and provide basic medical care 🥼 to children in need.

The Dreamer

Erik Lukács, the CEO of the Slovak parent company, has been involved in Sierra Leone for over 10 years. The beauty of the countryside and the efforts of the people living there had a profound impact on him, and he has been committed to helping the local communities ever since. As the founder of the foundation, his goal is to give them a chance for a better life and support their development. He fell in love with Sierra Leone and decided to contribute to the changes not only economically, but also from a human perspective. For Erik Lukács, education and supporting communities are key, and in his work he always looks for sustainable solutions that can bring about real, lasting change.

ABOUT US

OUR MISSION:

PRIMON Charity was created to support African children and their families, ensuring they have access to education and better living conditions. We believe that the power of learning can change the future of an entire community, which is why we build schools and kindergartens and help give children a chance for a better life.

Our foundation is closely linked to our Slovakian-based parent company PRIMON s.r.o, which also imports agricultural products. In Africa 🌍, in Sierra Leone 🇸🇱, we have purchased and are building land where we grow export products in cooperation with local farmers and communities. We believe that sustainable development and community empowerment go hand in hand, which is why we not only create jobs but also provide long-term support to the people of the region.
